The Doylestown Ryder Cup at DCC

2014 Results
Europe retains the cup with 10-10 tie!
Another picture perfect day at DCC for the 2014 Ryder Cup campaign awaited the teams in early September. After building up their usual lead heading into the singles matches, the Euros had to hang on for dear life, winning only 2.5 points in the singles matches. Captain Hodge won the clinching 1/2 a point by gutting out a draw in his singles match on the 18th hole to even the team score at 10-10 and keep the Cup in the hands of the Europeans.
The Euros were lead by Rick James who secured a team leading 3 1/2 points and by Joe Greene who paid his outstanding DCC bill and then recorded 3 points. The Americans got out to a suprising lead after the morning matches but slipped in the better ball of partners portion of the day, losing 3 of 4 matches.
American notables include Kim Hartung who continued his undefeated streak in singles and recorded 2 1/2 points. The American team was loaded with rookies this year, all of whom played well with Tony Verbek, Brian Trymbiski, and Barry Ginnetti all recording 2 1/2 points.
The Europeans now have the opportunity to complete the rare three-pete in Ryder Cup history heading into the 2015 event.
