Europeans pull off the first 4-peat of the Ryder Cup. The Euros jumped out to a quick lead in the morning matches and never looked back. The Euros held a commanding 6 1/2 to 1 1/2 point lead after the morning matches, and the two teams split the afternoon points. The 12 1/2 to 7 1/2 win by the Euros was one of the bigger wins in this event.
MVP honors for the Euros go to Bob Schumaker and Rick James, both of which earned 3 1/2 points for the Euros. James also became the first Euro to ever beat Kim Hartung in a Ryder Cup singles match. The Americans were led by Hartung with 2 1/2 points and Neumann with 2 points.
